dVentus is deploying and testing smart electric meters along with the communication and back office
meter data management and grid monitoring system in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. With growing concerns
of energy conservation and efficiency in distribution; technological transition is the forefront
agenda of most utilities across the globe. In that regard, utilities are joining the move towards
smart grid to address challenges and increase efficiency while saving resources. With this spirit,
dVentus is set to improve the operation of utilities in Africa by aiding the move towards intelligent
grid and mange its distribution network efficiently. This system will also help in improving revenue
collection, customer service and achieve operational excellence. The pilot program is scheduled to
last for about three to six months of testing period.
